Lärm

 LÄRM

 Extreme Noise Terrorism

Lärm were a Dutch straight edge thrashcore band formed in 1981, first playing under the name of Total Chaoz. The line-up was Olav on drums, Paul on guitar, Jos on bass, and Dorien on vocals. The three boys had previously been in a band called the Sextons. Their 1981 demo was recorded before Olav had a drumset, so he played the chairs (this can be heard on the Lärm discography CD).
Soon after the name change they added a second singer, Menno, to the mix.
Dorien left the band not long before they recorded their half of the split LP with Stanx.
After Menno was leaving to finish his legal education in Amsterdam, the other members went on to form the band Seein Red and Manlitingbanner.

Since 2003, Lärm played one show a year, though most have been with stand-in vocalists. Seein' Red has re-recorded some Lärm songs under the name Lärm as Fuck. They played their final show to date in 2012.

Lärm pioneered what would later be called "POWER VIOLENCE", along with bands Heresy and Siege.
